Call John Abraham at 9892155509
This could very well be a dream come true, especially for girls. From tonight, for the next two weeks, all you’ve to do is dial 9892155509 and John Abraham will answer your call himself. Abraham is readily available on the phone for next fortnight, willing to talk about pretty much anything and everything.
Turns out that the idea is basically Abraham’s own, inspired from his character in his forthcoming film, Jhootha Hi Sahi. The story starts with co-star Pakhi calling a love helpline number and instead, getting connected to Abraham, who gladly plays her counsellor. While he admits that he’s not a legitimate counselor, the actor afffirms, “I wanted to get on the line with people, hear them out. So I felt this was the best way to do so.”
Abraham is not perturbed by the fact that this easy access could bring in unwarranted opinions and comments too, a Jhootha Hi Sahireason why celebrities like Imran Khan have gone off Twitter. Recalling the time when his mobile number was leaked to the public, he says, “I’d get about four thousand calls and many more text messages. Of course, some were not what you’d call friendly and polite, but I didn’t bar any number. Twitter was not there then, but that was no less than the micro-blogging site for me.”
He concedes that as an actor, he’s made to read and hear only the nice things about himself, like others in the industry. But at the same time, he’s open to criticism. He reasons, “From the background I come from, criticism is a catalyst to growth. It is important and I harbor no hard or negative feelings if I’m criticized, because I understand there’s a reason for it.”
Considering that he started out as a client-servicing executive with an advertising agency before he became a model and then an actor, Abraham considers the audience as his godfather. “They’ve stood by me, and not to forget the media, which has presumably been more kind to me,” he asserts.
When asked how he will handle girls professing their love for him and going weak in the knees and the actor smiles. “I’ll thank them for their sweetness and tell them that if they were in front of me, I’d give them a hug. Maybe I’d go weak in my knees then,” he jests, signing off.
