"Karlify" your wardrobe


Finally, the waiting came to an end. And, as the saying goes, good things come to those wo wait. Yesterday, Karl Lagerfeld launched his new masstige line "KARL" at net-a-porter.com. As expected, Karl's trademark fingerless leather gloves (already sold out) are part of the accessible collection as well as his famous stiff shirt collars. They guarantee to instantly "Karlify" even the most demodé stylings. But beyond the tongue-in-cheek homages, you should really throw a glance at this wonderful 100-piece collection featuring biker vests, pleated skirts & tailored suits. And while the palette is foremost monochrome, the collection is punctuated with silver, sequins and pastel pink jackets. Just lovely.

Besides the usual garment, net-a-porter offers countdowns, apps and competitions with the chance to win £1000 to spend at net-a-porter.com. In addition, you can find a "Karlify" button that dresses your pictures up to the nine with the Kaiser's famous high collars and aviators, topped off with his groomed white coiffure. In the end, Lagerfeld chooses his favourite cyber-Karl who will win the coveted prize.

Lagerfeld launches new masstige line




Since Karl Lagerfeld stopped showing his signature collection on runway last year, he sort of took a back seat. But now he's back in the public eye with his new collection which will be available as of January 25. His coming line, named "Karl", is an 100-piece masstige women's collection priced at about $95 to $450 which is very low-budget for Lagerfeld. His intention:
"I just want not too expensive clothes that people may like and perhaps want to wear. That was my concept for a long time, but my business partners in the past wanted to be like Chanel or Fendi without putting behind what is needed to be like that ... Now I am feeling we are ready for the right job — the way to do things right in a modern, unusual way.”
In spite of the cheap rate, Lagerfeld abides by his design principles. The new collection is mostly targeted at teens and women in their early 20's. Therefore it's a mix of street and rock designs, leather, silvery jeans and cocktail dresses with plunging backs. Just ♥ it. Fortunately, the whole collection will be purchasable on Net-a-Porter. I am really thrilled and I can hardly wait to see Lagerfeld's latest masterpiece. So, maybe I can intesify your anticipation with this little video, starring Sui He and Anja Rubik.

Time is up - at least for Freja



Ending with this year's fall set styled by Carine Roitfeld, it seems that the current Chanel campaign will be the last one for Freja Beha Erichsen. Roitfeld, former editor-in-chief of the French Vogue and Karl Lagerfeld reteamed last weekend at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, to shoot the new campaign for Spring 2012 - styles "about athletics and the sea, very modern, sportif and in black and white,” announced Lagerfeld. If we give credence to FashionologieJoan Smalls (left) and Saskia de Brauw outstripped their model colleague Erichsen, who will no longer be fronting the brand.

Behind the scenes: The muses

It's obvious that nearly every designer gets inspired by his or her faved muse. They're the source of  inspiration, mostly models or outstanding personalities. So far so good. This June, W magazine issued a special love affair: between designers and their musician muses. Photographer Max Vadukul captured ten famous designers with the musicians who inspired them the most, like Florence Welch, the flame-haired frontwoman of the British pop band Florence and the Machine, Kanye West, or Yoko Ono. I like the idea of looking behind the scenes and get a clue where all the designers get their inspiration from. But to be honest, I favor the monochrome photos, but maybe it's just a matter of taste.
