Louis Vuitton Unveils Tokyo Store

Recently, Louis Vuitton opened its latest flagship store in the Shinjuku area of Toyko. The french luxury house operates two other boutiques in the area, but has now added its first street level standalone store.

The two-story building features women’s bags and accessories on the 1st floor and travel luggage, men’s items and women’s shoes and pret-a-porter on the 2nd floor. At the center stairwell, a stunning light sculpture created by Korean artist Do-Ho Suh ties the store together. Called “Cause and Effect,” Suh’s sculpture is made up of 42,000 clear acrylic resin human figures hanging from a ceiling frame crafted out of stainless steel and aluminum.
Window displays designed by Sofia Coppola, which were also shown in the windows of Le Bon Marche Paris in October, are currently on display until mid-January.
Actress Yoko Maki made an appearance during the opening ceremony of the new store, along with Frederic Grange, company president and CEO of Louis Vuitton Japan. Grange added, “We decided to invest more into our Japan operations starting in 2011, and began planning boutiques on Namiki-dori, Matsuya Ginza, and this new Shinjuku outlet. These three stores are extremely important to us, and I’m delighted that we were able to realize them in the space of these two years.”

LOUIS VUITTON SC BAG

A couple of years back when Sofia Coppola visited the Louis Vuitton Asnières workshops with the agenda of placing an order for a bag, she ended up designing one.

Holding subtle resemblance to the iconic Speedy and Keepall models, the SC calfskin leather bags at the time of its launch earned acclamation of its own. Now, Louis Vuitton is relaunching this collection, but as a special edition exclusively dedicated to the Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, a famous department store in Paris. Thus the name of the collection comes to be as: The Louis Vuitton SC Bag Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche.

The bags would be available in small and mini versions. However, its star highlight is the color palette it would sport: a subtle blue accompanied with bright fuchsia pink pipping giving it a vibrant touch.

Louis Vuitton Top Luxury Brand for 2013

Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Gucci were the top three global luxury brands of 2013, with Fendi and Coach entering the top 10 for the first time, a study said Wednesday. The 2013 BrandZ Top 100, a ranking of the most valuable global brands compiled by research firm MillwardBrown, found luxury firms struggling with the need to balance exclusivity with attracting new customers through use of social media.
“On Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and other social media platforms, brands across the luxury spectrum mediated the tension between the exclusivity that protects brand desirability and the inclusivity needed to attract new customers,” it said.

The survey said luxury brands had become more “accessible, collaborative and experimental”.
After a modest purchase, for example, a firm might send a thank you note on twitter while a couture fashion customer might receive an invitation to an exclusive show.

Handbag firm Coach owed its position at number 10 on the list to its presence in China where it added 30 stores by the end of 2012, taking its total there to 69. The survey said it was among the firms making extensive use of social media and the Internet, “emailing over 1.2 billion messages to selected customers”.

And it found that the Chinese customer continued to be key to the fortunes of luxury firms in Europe.
Although, the sector felt the impact of government limits on official gift giving and slowing economic growth in China, purchases by Chinese and other Asian tourists to Europe “buoyed luxury sales in the economically troubled markets of western Europe”, it said.
Overall in the past year, the value of the luxury sector had risen six percent, compared with a 15 percent increase a year ago, it added.

The top ten brands were: Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Gucci, Prada, Rolex, Chanel, Cartier, Burberry, Fendi and Coach

On July 3, Louis Vuitton opened its first store dedicated exclusively to their collection of fine jewelry and watches, as well as its first jewelry shop at the iconic number 23 in Place Vendôme. The space is just a few meters from 4, rue Neuve de Capucines, the historical address where Louis Vuitton established his first store in 1854, the birthplace, savoir faire of the Maison.
All the excellence in the know-how of Louis Vuitton will be presented in the new haute jewelry store in the Maison, located on the top floor of the elegant 17th century building, where the old benches of master jewelers for numerous generations still remain. The new space will be the source of inspiration for teachers who work there, those who perpetuate the excellence of craftsmanship in the tradition of the Maison, as well as the boldness of their innovation. The collection that includes necklaces, rings and earrings made of diamonds designed by Creative Director Lorenz Bäumer. Each jewel demonstrates a certain path or place in Paris—one of the rings shows the way to the LV boutique with yellow diamonds, a necklace plays reflects the traffic on the Champs Elysees as the cars head for the Arc de Triomphe and back. Diamonds are cut in the form of Vuitton’s iconic flower shape and symbolize the Place Vendôme itself.
The soft tone of the boutique is the idea of architect Peter Marino who wanted to make a special focus on the jewels.
