Sonakshi Sinha, Akshay Kumar to Star in India’s First 3D Film ‘Joker’
BollywoodWorld.com, It is finally official. After much speculation as to who will be the female lead of the upcoming 3D film Joker (Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha being the chief contenders), it is the Dabangg girl who has finally struck the chord with filmmaker Sirish Kunder. Touted as the first 3D project in Bollywood, Joker has already generated a lot of buzz not only for its content but also for the lead pair of Akshay and Sonakshi. Director Sirish Kunder was searching for a fresh pair for his upcoming movie and the Akshay Kumar – Sonakshi Sinha jodi looked perfect, the director stressing on the fact that Sonakshi also completely fits into the character as the female lead opposite Akshay’s character.Though titled Joker, the Akshay Kumar – Sonakshi Sinha starrer does not tell the story of a joker in a circus. Neither is it the story of a superhero, as was perceived by many after they heard that the film was to be made in 3D. Akshay Kumar is not prepared to reveal details on the plot yet and we as audience will also have to wait till next year to catch a glimpse of Joker.
All that can be said now is that Sonakshi Sinha is gradually getting a good grasp in Bollywood. After having worked with Salman Khan in her debut film, Akshay Kumar as co-star in the second film itself is something that many actresses will die for. The Dabangg girl too accepts the fact, promising to improve with each film. Joker hits the screens on Christmas next year.

Akshay Kumar has turned a gold man. He will now be seen endorsing Manappuran Gold Loan. The actor chats up with TWF correspondent Sreya Basu on his new avatar.Do you have any inclination towards gold?
(Laughs) No…not at all. I am not into gold. You won't find me wearing gold chains, rings, bracelets…I am a simple man and am happy if my basic needs are fulfilled. But yes, my wife (Twinkle Khanna), my mother and my sister love wearing gold. See, with Manappuram Gold Loan, I am endorsing a good social message, not gold.
That means, you do buy a lot of gold for Twinkle…
Nei ji. I am an intelligent man. I don't get her earrings, or bangles or rings, or necklaces. I give her cash and Tina (Twinkle) to help herself with whatever she likes.
You are endorsing gold loan, have you taken a loan so far in your personal life?
Jabse maine hosh samhala hai, I have not taken any loan. We are not from a big background. I don't know if my parents have ever taken a loan or not. They made sure that I don't worry about these things in life; they never let me realize that we don't have so much money. My parents made sure I am never in dearth of anything. As for me, I have not required a loan so far in my life.
What are the areas where you invest?
I do a lot in insurances, bonds, fixed deposits…I invest in properties. These are the four-five things that I majorly do by default. Besides, I have my own production house. And then, I invest in my wife's jewellery. That's all.
What's the contract period for this 'social message' endorsement?
At the moment we have a very long term association with each other. They are here with a good message that if you have gold, why go for personal or business loans. I find this message logical. So I 'm here. And also, they are the highest taxpayers; so is me…we have many things in common, you know.
Coming to your profession, you are all set to host Master Chef India. From Fear Factor to cookery show, how did things shape up?
When I did Fear Factor, I could identify myself with the stunts. And in Master Chef also, I see myself as someone who can be a part of it. I have done this (cooking), I know the ingredients, I know how to make the dishes.
In Bollywood, actors are categorized. Like Saif Ali Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are romantic heroes, Govinda's arena is comedy, while Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and you are action stars. Do you support this categorization?
When I started, action was not considered acting. But action is also a form of art. And when an action hero does a comedy film, he is nominated in comic category at the awards functions and he becomes a comedian. Agar aisa hi hai toh, the one who plays a romantic hero should get nominated in Best Romantic Hero category. Why should he be given Best Actor Award? What I want to say is there shouldn't be any category for anything.
I understand, when an actor does a particular genre well, people remember that particular image. It's hard to erase that image, harder to replace that image with another one, hardest to make the audience accept it.
ike your case?
You can say that. I started out as an action hero…the Khiladi series and what not. Then I switched to a romantic image with films like Dhadkan, and now I am doing comedy like Heyy Baby, Housefull. It's tough, but you can do it with hard work.

Veteran actor and superstar Rajesh Khanna who ruled the heart of millions during his filmy days very often comes into news for various reasons. If he has hit the headlines for doing sensational scene with Pakistani actress Saraa then he has also created waves by accepting Bigg Boss against his son-in-law Akshay’s choice. Now the actor is again filling the gossip column for his differences with son-in-law Akshay Kumar. Akki eyes Khanna’s multi crore bungalow Aashirwad on Carter Road, Mumbai. He desires to purchase it but Khanna straightway rejected him.

One of his close assistant, says, “Rajesh Khanna had returned home in the wee hours after attending a Mujra where he had gifted the singer his watch and a silver kada that was given to him by Dimple Kapadia. When I met him for breakfast, he was dreading the moment when Dimple would find these things missing on him.”
Rajesh Khanna has also been approached by many writers for his biography but he feels that his life has not completed the full round and he has many more things to do.

Akshay forgoes his salary!
True, the Khiladi Kumar is taking the risk, this time on the means of his income.
Akshay who used to charge whopping fee amount said to be bringing a huge cut in his salary.
Sources reveal that the actor won’t be accepting any remuneration for his next two films namely Priyadarshan’s ‘Khatta Meetha’ and Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan.
This decision was made by Akshay after going through his earlier films which failed badly in the market basing his heavy fees.
Although Akki is a co-producer of both the films, the market scenario has made the actor to consider his salary demand and so decided to do away with his acting fees for the two films. This cost-cutting step by the actor will truly make other actors to sit back and take notice.
Akshay seem to be confident that his new strategy will help the production houses to stay afloat whatever maybe the outcome of both the films.

Spoilsports couldn't spoil my thrill: Akshay Kumar
Although a Candian land-preservation group tried to stop Akshay Kumar’s Olympian sprint in Toronto on Thursday evening no power on earth could take away the exhilaration of the moment from Akshay. His joy at representing the country with such a singular honour has now multiplied. After Akshay carried the torch at one of the most well-attended street events in Toronto, the Olympics committee in all their wisdom, decided to gift the Olympian torch to the Khiladi star.
Unable to contain his excitement at the honour Akshay on his return to Mumbai on Sunday morning said, “Carrying the torch across the longest street in the world was the greatest honour I could hope for.
But when after the event the Olympics committee gifted me the torch I almost broke down. My first thought was for my son Aarav who would now be able to keep that precious torch with him for a few days. My second thought was, will I carry it back to Mumbai safe and sound?’
At the Toronto airport the authorities were excited by the very unusual cabin luggage that Akshay had brought with him. “They didn’t even check the torch! I was just asked to proceed with it.”
Throughout the long trip from Toronto to Mumbai Akshay clutched the torn in his hands as he sat thinking of what to do with the precious possession.
“It was during the long flight that I decided what to do with the torch.I’ll be auctioning it and use the noney to help the children who participate in the Special Olympics.”
Reliving the golden moments when he carried the torch in Toronto on Thursday evening Akshay says, “About 7-8000 Indians including those who had come from other cities like Montreal and Vancouver lined both the sides of Younge Street which at 15, 00 miles is the longest street in the world. I started at 7.30.
But people had already gathered by 5 pm. I covered about ½ a mile in 20 minutes. I can only tell you, it was the most exciting and magical moment of my existence.”
Akshay’s spirits were not dampened by a group calling itself the Torch Extinguishing Committee.
Says Akshay, “I don’t know whose torch they came to extinguish. It was certainly not mine. I heard they were around somewhere on that street. Like I told you it’s the longest street in the world.
I completed my sprint without obstruction. I could hear people shouting, ‘Spoil-sports, spoil-sports!’ against these protesters. I’m sure they were protesting for a worthy cause. But why dilute sports by bringing politics into it?”
